Rosebud Steakhouse exceeded every expectation. We came hungry and left already planning our next visit. The Lobster Got (their take on escargot with lobster) was absolutely incredible—rich, buttery, and unlike anything we’ve had before. The oysters were fresh, cold, and delicious. The 22 oz Original Chicago Cut bone-in ribeye was cooked to perfection with an amazing crust and incredible flavor. The Chicken Calabrese was also outstanding and a great option if you’re not in the mood for steak. The sides deserve their own shoutout. The steakhouse mashed potatoes were creamy and comforting, the grilled asparagus was perfectly seasoned, and the crispy Brussels sprouts were easily some of the best we’ve had. What really made the evening special was the attentive, friendly service of Jay (our wonderful server) and the classic Chicago steakhouse atmosphere. Every course came out perfectly timed, and we never felt rushed. If you’re visiting Chicago or you’re a local looking for a fantastic steakhouse, Rosebud Steakhouse should be at the top of your list. Highly recommended!
We love old school Steak and Chop houses in Chicago, especially the rustic decorations and history. We are staying away from the other steak joints in River North because of the clientele just went south in the past few years. We go to Rosebud Rush Street all the time, first time here. The service was great, but wait...did I just pay $27 for 3 pcs of Cocktail Shrimp? Wait, did my neighbor just get 4 pcs with the same size with their order? This is wrong, don't tell me that they are not the same size 😂 The heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad was very good, fresh ingredients. The Rigatoni Vodka was standard, same as Rush Street. The Prime Rib on the other side was just so so. The Rosemary Au Jus was perfect, the white paste which I thought was horseradish cream, was just mayo. The worst part was the quality of the rib eye roast. I had high hopes for it because it is a nice 20oz boneless rib eye roast and it is not normally being offered. The temp was perfect, but the meat doesn't have much marbling, the ends were actually a little tough. The centers were better but the texture was rough, the feeling that you want to spit out what is left in your mouth instead of swallowing it. I think I will just stick with a regular steak next time if we return.
Just absolutely amazing. We got a great waiter who was funny, personable, and positive. The dinner selection was on point with his suggestions. We had lobster baked in butter and covered with cheese for an appetizer. For the entrees, we had a full chicken, Asian tuna, sauteed mushrooms and onions, and jalapeno hash browns. The desserts were also fantastic. I will definitely come back here.
We had an outstanding experience at Rosebud. Everything was absolutely perfect—from the atmosphere to the food, and especially the attentiveness and professionalism of the staff. It’s clear that this restaurant is run by a very strong chef and an excellent management team with a well-established culture and consistency. There wasn’t a single issue or even a minor detail that we didn’t enjoy. During our 3-day visit to Chicago, we ended up dining here twice—and honestly, we wished we had come here on the third night as well. A special thank you to Chris, Ryan and Damien for taking such great care of us—they truly made our experience even more memorable. Highly recommended.
We loved Rosebuds!! Our server was so hospitable, knowledgeable, and helped create such a wonderful night! The food was also impeccable! Try the mac and cheese and the trio medallions, both amazing!! It was so cozy inside and great for a birthday celebration, anniversary or just because!
