Super tasty Filipino and American breakfast in a cheery and cozy spot with tabletops tiled in white penny-round tile and walls covered with eclectic homey decor. During warmer weather, they also have outdoor seating. What to get: - Pork Belly Adobo (served with white rice or garlic rice, 2 eggs any style, side of achara pickles, cucumber, tomato. The adobo is super tasty and goes so well with the pickle, rice, and eggs.) - Chicken and Waffles (the chicken [one piece dark, one piece white] is SO good, but it's often a long wait; my guess is they're incredibly good at frying chicken and also fry to order, but they don't have a pressure fryer which is way faster, but is also a really huge piece of equipment) - Santa Fe Hash (chorizo, bell peppers, red onion, garlic, cheese, tomato, potatoes, and toast)...we can't over-emphasize how well this dish is cooked: the potatoes are perfectly crisp, the peppers and onions are perfectly caramelized, there's the right amount of slightly crisped chorizo, and everything goes great with the eggs. - Two Eggs with Bacon (with thick-cut bacon, toast and choice of home-fried potatoes or fried garlic rice) - Garlic Fried Rice - Breakfast Sandwich Service is attentive, friendly, and on point. They'll remember you if you visit often. :) Note: they can get busy with long food-prep times during peak hours on weekends, so plan accordingly.
My friends and I were excited to try this place, but it turned out to be pretty disappointing. First, there was a wait for a table, which we did not mind. They said it would be about 30 minutes. They took our name for a table and said they would call or text us, but then after about 30 minutes we walked back over to the door because we figured it would be our turn soon, and saw that they weren't following the order or texting people, and just calling people in from outside. People that got there well after us got a table before us (same group size). We ended up waiting almost an hour for our table, and when we mentioned it to the person calling people in, that's when he got us a table. We then waited quite a while for a server to come take our orders. Then, it took over an hour for us to get 3 dishes, and the 4th took even longer. I don't mind waiting for good food, but this was just... Meh. The adobo was very dry, and the French toast was soggy. We also asked for a few things (more water, etc.), but the server seemed very disorganized and brought us things we didn't ask for. I think probably due to the fact that they are understaffed for the capacity at which they are serving people, so I can't even blame him. Also, and this is a small but strange detail, all of our straws were broken. We had to ask for new ones because ours all had holes in them. It was also quite noisy and there was a loud, deep rumbling that never stopped. It almost sounded like we were seated next to a semi truck that was inside the restaurant. It was definitely not coming from anything outside either. They did comp our meal that took an extremely long time to come out though, so that was very nice of them, but it was only after the fact that we pointed out that everyone else was already done eating by the time the final person's dish came out. The person in charge (not sure if it's the manager or owner) then told us that they ran out of ingredients for the French toast and had to go get more! Instead of telling us this when it was ordered, they just made us wait. Overall, it was just a disappointing experience.
I love visiting small family run breakfat diners ... This place has the best breakfast that I have been to in a while . If you love flavorful breakfast and plated well.. please visit.. u will be happy.. the owners were courteous and the service was awesome and the portions for the price is great on top of that .. try the breakfast taco and the breakfast fired rice. Will visit again if I am back in chicago
Had an amazing dining experience! Chef Tucker was incredibly hospitable and made us feel truly welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was absolutely delicious every dish was flavorful and clearly prepared with care. Toby was our waiter and he was awesome super friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The combination of great service and fantastic food made the whole experience memorable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back again with my family!
We went here on Valentine’s Day for breakfast on a whim and ended up happy we decided to do so. The chef/owner was going around to the tables and passing out little chocolates. It was so cute! I got the manila breakfast and my husband ordered the santa fe hash. Both meals were enjoyable in their own ways. The server was nice and attentive as well. Would love to visit again!
