I can see why this is one of the best seafood restaurants in Chicago. Started off with an amazing crab bisque, wish there was a few chunks of crab but still good. I had the crab stuffed shrimp, so good! Very big pieces of shrimp. I tried the seafood platter, I don’t like scallops but I enjoyed these, wasn’t a big fan of the lobster tail. They make a great Moscow mule and a good French 75. Dessert was fantastic, can’t go wrong with any of their pies but the banana cream pie and key lime pie were delicious. Service was the entire time, Blake did an amazing job.
This might have been the best overall dining experience of my entire life, like actually. They do all the little things to make the experience at their restaurant seem like you are a king. I love how the waiting room is still a good time, as they have TVs and a nice bar before entering the main dining area. The main area has a very classic look, very nice. We started with the stone crab, crab cake, and some calamari. The crab cake I highly highly recommend, the crunch was perfect. The crab was a super great experience, as I’ve only had good crab a couple times in my life. Calamari was very good as expected. The sauces complimented everything perfectly. Next, I got the crab bisque. No notes, it was 10/10. For the main course, I had the special wagyu NY strip. That steak was one of the best I’ve had. The crust was soooo flavorful. We got so many sides, all were delicious. The mac n cheese and mashed potatoes didn’t blow me away, I’d recommend going for other things like the hash browns. I also tried some of the salmon, also so good. The wide selection of pies was great for desert. The service was so great. Our server was so nice and funny, made the experience even more memorable. If you ever have the chance to go to Joe’s, take that chance and don’t look back. You won’t regret it.
You obviously come here for the legendary seafood, and the stone crab claws and seafood salad did not disappoint—absolutely fresh, perfectly prepared, and incredible quality. But the real shocker of the night? The fried chicken. We ordered it on a whim, and it was surprisingly amazing! Perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. Don't sleep on the chicken when you come here—it completely stole the show alongside the crab. Excellent service and an all-around fantastic dinner. Highly recommend!
We made reservations at this restaurant and were informed that we had two hours to finish our dinner. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lively and bustling atmosphere, filled with diners. Despite the noise, we managed to have a pleasant conversation at our table. The food was quite expensive, but the freshness and deliciousness of each dish made it worthwhile. The wait staff was friendly, organized, and efficient, ensuring that our dinner was served promptly and with attention to detail. We ordered a variety of dishes, including the stone crab with the special mustard sauce, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The flavors were rich and satisfying, leaving us with a memorable dining experience. Overall, we had a great time at this restaurant and will definitely be returning in the future.
I came here as a walk-in for my birthday lunch on a Saturday. It was my first visit despite hearing amazing reviews and knowing Joe’s is a true Chicago staple. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. At the time, I was 28 weeks pregnant and following both a gluten-free and dairy-free diet. The manager and our server were incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating, offering thoughtful modifications and recommendations that fit my dietary needs without making me feel like an inconvenience. We were warmly greeted at the front door after valet parking and waited less than five minutes before being seated. When we arrived at our table, I was pleasantly surprised to find a sweet birthday card waiting for me. Our server recommended a delicious non-alcoholic cocktail and a pregnancy-friendly appetizer that was both gluten-free and dairy-free. Throughout the meal, we never felt rushed. The atmosphere was exactly what you’d expect from a classic steakhouse: elegant, lively, and bustling with attentive servers, yet never overwhelming or overstimulating. Every interaction felt genuine, and the level of hospitality stood out. My husband and I left feeling very well taken care of, and it’s easy to understand why Joe’s has earned its reputation as a Chicago institution. We look forward to returning.
