This was our first stop from the airport for our weekend visit. I am so glad that it did not disappoint. This was our first time visit Minghin. The service was exceptional. The food flavor was spot on. My kid especially loved the steamed BBQ pork buns and we've had them from many different Chinese restaurants across the US. The atmosphere, dining room temperature was great for the day with outdoor breeze coming into the dining room. We used to visit Phoenix when we were in town. This time, we've decided to give Minghin a try as it didn't exist the last time we were in Chicago (2006). We will return.

You sit down at MingHin and immediately get the sense that the place runs double-time. Service is prompt without being pushy, and dishes start arriving the moment they’re ready — not stacked under a heat lamp waiting for the whole order to catch up. It turns the meal into a kind of pleasant roulette: you never know which dish is going to land on the table next, but it’s always hot and fresh when it does. Ordering on the iPad menu is surprisingly helpful. Every dish has a photo and a description, which is perfect if you’re not familiar with something or just want to make sure you’re getting exactly what you think you’re getting. Staff checks in often enough that you feel looked after, but never in that hovering, “are you done yet” way. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable for downtown, and the food is consistently solid. Of all the Asian spots in Chicago, the Crab Rangoon here is my favorite — crisp, creamy, balanced, and not weighed down with that overly sweet filling you get elsewhere. The Seafood Egg White Fried Rice is another go‑to: simple, understated, and excellent. It’s the kind of dish that doesn’t need flash because it’s already doing everything right. MingHin is one of those places you end up returning to because it’s reliable, comfortable, and genuinely good at what it does. Whether you’re grabbing a quick meal, introducing someone to dim sum, or just craving that fried rice again, it always hits the spot.

Excellent experience! Fast service and very attentive staff. The food arrived neatly presented and tasted great. I loved that the layout is spacious enough for big family groups but still welcoming for solo diners. Keep up the good work!

Loved the decorations and atmosphere. The short rib was unfortunately pretty chewy and hard to eat, but the fried rice was amazing and definitely the highlight of the meal. Service was good, nothing particularly above and beyond. Prices were pretty reasonable too. We came in very hungry and probably ordered too much!

I’m new to the River North community and had a craving for Chinese cuisine. I did what any new resident would do— I turned to TikTok food reviews. The reviews for MingHin were overwhelmingly favorable and I see why. The food is amazing (more on that below), but when they welcomed my furbaby —who was in my arms while I ran in to pickup my takeout—I knew I would return. I ordered the combination fried rice and Crab Rangoon. OMG!! I think I inhaled the food. I ate the Rangoon so fast that I didn’t get a picture but trust me, it was delicious. The fried rice was also amazing. My only critique is the pieces of beef and chicken were “minced” rather than chopped but it had whole shrimp. They have multiple locations—I went to the Streeterville location. There is plenty of street parking and the location is in a great spot on E. Ohio St with outdoor seating if the weather is favorable.
