Had a pleasant dinner here! Loved the plantain with chorizo taco and the steak taco; my friend and I shared them together and it was a great combo! Plantain is a little sweet but in a good way, and the steak taco had some crunch that was good! Would come back here to try more dishes!! Staff were great.
The restaurant is cool with nice aesthetic and bar. The speakeasy downstairs had a long line. We sat at the bar when we arrived and enjoyed the cocktails. Great flavors, beautifully put together. Staff at the bar were friendly and helpful too. When we got to our table we ordered food and noticed a shift from the level of service at the bar compared to the table. The server had no personality, we were celebrating a birthday and he didn't acknowledge it at all. We ordered as bottle of wine and he brought a completely different bottle and before we could realize he already poured it. I thought he might come back to ask us how the wine was but that didn't happen either. The food was tasty, good flavors and nicely cooked.
Matilda on Wells Street is a standout for those wanting a lunch with refined flavor and a welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere. Jonny, Aide, and Alicia were all friendly and very helpful. Matilda has an impressive drinks menu, especially the wide variety of mezcal spirits available. We ordered from the three course lunch menu, and were not disappointed! Everything was fresh, inventive and delicious. On our next visit, we plan to check out the downstairs speakeasy.
We had a wonderful dinner experience here with a party of six. The space is beautifully designed, with thoughtfully separated areas that make it feel more private and comfortable for groups. We started with guacamole, which had a beautiful presentation and was perfect for sharing, along with the octopus and tuna tartare—everything was fresh and delicious. For the mains, we had the paella, branzino, carne asada tacos, and tried the sweet plantain and chorizo tacos for the first time, which were a great surprise. Sharing the dishes made the experience even more enjoyable. The drinks were also excellent, and the staff was kind enough to replace one that was a bit too strong. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, and the service was good throughout. Overall, a great spot for a group dinner with delicious food and a welcoming vibe!
Food is amazing is an understatement. They have an upscale take on Latin flare. I wont lie, the way they cook and present food seems very intentional. I truly enjoyed the guacamole and chips. Tacos were delicious. We also had tomato ceviche and it was all prepared well. I definitely recommend if youre looking for an experience. The cocktails were also really tasty and the ambience of the place was just beautiful. I definitely will be back.
