Really good place, we enjoy having a few drinks here on weekends. We tried the lounge and the room and each has a different atmosphere, but we really enjoyed both. The entrance is a bit hard to find, especially when following the map lol — it can take some time to locate the door. The food tastes great as well. We’ve tried almost all the snacks and loved them. We recommend to make a reservation before comin, as it is always packed on weekends.
Made it back to Chicago for the weekend and after a fun but somewhat underwhelming tiki experience last time I visited Three Dots and a Dash, I was excited to have a reservation for the Bamboo Room and boy did it exceed my expectations in some areas but then fall short in others yet again! The good: I LOVE the quiet more intimate space. The main bar caters so much more to the North Loop drinking crowds that it's more like a glorified yuppie bar with incredible tiki drinks than a classic Tiki vibe. The Bamboo Room however, sticks the landing when it comes to calm, relaxing, and heightened sophistication almost reminiscent of those dark golden-age tiki bars we often hear so much about. The drinks were incredible and made with so much effort and execution that you can taste in every sip. The focus on technique is the highest I've ever experienced in my limited tiki bar adventures, and I'd highly recommend this for any tiki lover looking to expand their horizons on classics in a not-so-gimmicky approach to "modern" mixology. There's love and effort put in to the work here. The not-so-good: The bar seats around 14 and only had 1 bartender and occasionally an additional person on staff to help. When they're full, which is easily often especially closer to and on weekends, service is SLOW. This can be a good thing if you're looking to relax all night and sip at a relaxed pace, though! Also, to nitpick, the only seating available are high tops so even though the vibe is relaxing, the seating is not (especially for these long drinking experiences). My group of 4 had 2 drinks max and we were there for more than 2 hours! Overall, fantastic drinks, less than fantastic time but at least the vibes were great. I wouldn't blame the staff at all for the paced experience since that's just what it was. I'd wish they'd have at least 1 other bartender on staff per night just to allow more relaxed vibes from the staff, as you can tell having only 1 bartender for 14 made the bar feel extremely backed up immediately in such a calming and beautiful space. Went home with a coffee mug for the Holidays and beanie.
