At a glance
Viceroy Chicago, located in the prestigious Gold Coast neighborhood, seamlessly marries historical architecture with modern design. While the hotel’s striking glass tower stands as a beacon of mid-century modern glamour, it pays homage to its 120-year-old roots. Every room and suite, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, highlights a sophisticated art deco flair, perfectly encapsulating Chicago's vibrant energy.
The culinary scene at Viceroy Chicago reflects the city’s diverse cultural influences. Somerset, the all-day restaurant, offers a menu rich in Mediterranean flavors. Perfect for both casual dining and special occasions, its welcoming environment caters to both locals and visitors alike. High above on the 18th floor, Pandan presents a refined selection of modern cocktails and dishes infused with East Asian flavors, set against panoramic city views that are ideal for an evening of relaxation or entertainment.
This luxurious retreat also includes recreational opportunities such as a rooftop pool and a well-equipped fitness center, allowing guests to unwind and stay active. The Viceroy stands as a hub not just for relaxation but also for exploration, conveniently located near Lake Michigan, the Magnificent Mile, and numerous cultural landmarks, offering an ideal base for discovering the best of Chicago.
Reviews
Rooms are nice but overpriced for what they are. Services are also poor for the price and star rating - housekeeping skipped our room four days in a row, only one thin towel is provided in the room, there are no robes, the coffee shop was permanently closed when we visited, plus lots of noise coming through from the room next door. Definitely not a $450 per night experience. Save your money and stay elsewhere.
We had a corporate event at the Viceroy in May, and it was amazing. Huge shout out to the Viceroy Banquet Team, particularly Randy White, who is the director of banquets. He and his team did such an amazing job, and we look forward to having our event here for years to come. They were SO easy to work with. Appreciate the Viceroy team!!!!!
Stayed here recently, July 10-12. Great location, seconds from morning park with Whispers for coffee and chill by the fountain. Seconds from Gibsons, Carmine’s Maple & Ash, and many more restaurants and retail. Our bellman/ all around awesome attendant, Mark, made an awesome welcome each time we entered the hotel or needed help. We missed him the day we were there and he was off. Pandan on Friday night was a great atmosphere and drinks were amazing. Lead bartender was a bit “stuffy”. Coming from Indiana, most bartenders hang for comfortable conversation. He did not, but he made a great drink. We met a really great manager of facilities, maybe that was his position, but he was super friendly and rode up the elevator with us on the last day of our stay. Front desk staff was efficient and attentive to our needs. We needed an extra key, clothes steamer, etc. Valet filled the role just fine. Noticed our car on the street one day before we checked out. I told the valet and he took care of it, just crossed wires between front desk and valet. It caused no harm, but thought I would mention for hotel communication improvement. While we were out at whispers in the park each morning we came back to a made bed and fresh towels. Great housekeeping. Room was comfortable. Bed was soft and linens were high quality. Pillows were awesome. Elevators were fast. We stayed in room 1301 and rarely waiting on the elevator. Ate at Somerset, I had a great burger and my husband had a chicken sandwich. Good spot for nice outdoor seating and a quick bite without a reservation. No complaints at all. Great weekend. We plan to visit here again. Clean, quiet, comfortable, with amazing location. Double shout out to Mark! Stay cool dude!
I love this hotel’s architecture, interior design, and rooftop pool. I stayed over the Memorial Day holiday, and my ONLY complaint is the limited pool and poolside lounge hours (the pool closes very early, and the lounge does too, with the two places deliberately operating at opposite times). However, this is still a top-notch hotel in a gorgeous Chicago neighborhood. I would return, for sure.
I stayed at Viceroy Chicago for Valentine's Day and had a wonderful experience. The hotel has a luxurious atmosphere, beautiful accommodations, and a great location in Chicago. The property is stylish, well-maintained, and offers a comfortable upscale experience from the moment you arrive. The rooms were comfortable, the service was professional, and the overall ambiance made it a great choice for a special occasion. The hotel provided the perfect setting for a romantic Valentine's Day getaway. My stay was relaxing, memorable, and exactly what I was looking for. I would gladly stay here again and recommend Viceroy Chicago to anyone looking for a luxury hotel experience in Chicago.
