This hotel was so bad I canceled the rest of my 3 night stay after just one night. First, I was redirected after booking to a timeshare pitch, and then was insulted by the employee on the phone when I declined. There were so many inconveniences at every turn. I tried to order room service and the restaurant phone wasn’t working ( I tried from my personal and the hotel), when I did finally get through the menu I was looking at in the room was mislabeled, the ice buckets don’t fit the bag of ice that is too frozen to come apart. I literally had to leave the bags of ice in the sink so they wouldn’t melt everywhere.
We had an absolutely INCREDIBLE wedding at the Kimpton Gray! Mariah, the events coordinator, was fabulous throughout the entire experience. From the moment we scheduled the tour, through tasting and rehearsal, all the way up to the big day, it was such a smooth experience. The hotel venue was amazing, with a perfect location for photos on-site, which took away any weather anxiety, and amazing amenities for the bridal getting ready suite and even for the groom! The spaces day of were so beautiful, we used Adler for our ceremony and dinner, and Boleo for cocktail hour and the reception. Boleo is such a fabulous unique wedding space, with a gorgeous window rooftop, it made it feel like a great night out with all our friends and family. The food and cake were INCREDIBLE, with many of our friends saying that was the best wedding food ever. And the drinks and bar staff were amazing. Cannot say enough good things about the Kimpton and Mariah and her team - but if you are looking for a venue in the loop, and want an amazing wedding, this is the one for you!!! Thank you again to the Kimpton team for making this day the best day of our lives. Also the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, with very comfortable rooms, it was a joy to stay there and have our wedding hosted here.
TLDR: Mid-tier, not luxury hotel with AMAZING customer service, but lower pressure, temperature swinging showers and loud rooms for the price. The location is awesome in the financial district so a 15-30 minute walk from every part of the city you want to visit. The customer service is impeccable though! The bed was comfy and the room was clean. Unfortunately, our room was off the elevator bank which has marble tile floors. Literally every footstep, every word, and every ding of the elevator echoed into our room. They really need to soundproof the door jam. The room was quite small for the price. At $250-350 / night, one would expect a bit more. Lastly, the shower. Lower water pressure that had wild swings in the temperature. From scalding to freezing, even in off peak times for showers. Also note: the two hotel bars are NOT open Sunday and Monday so if you have the AMEX credit, it is really difficult to use the Platinum credit on Sunday / Monday stays.
The Kimpton Gray is a must! Location is perfect and walkable to pretty much everything. LOVE the wine hour and the ambiance of the hotel. Just beautiful! The rooms are spacious and clean and service is great. We came for the Bears vs Steelers game to celebrate my dad’s 60th and the team rolled out the red carpet! They welcomed us with custom cookies (which we promptly ate) and spirit gear for the game. So cool! Ari checked us in and was friendly and quick after a long day of travel. Malika checked us out and was so warm and genuinely wanted to know how our stay was. Shea at the concierge gave us great tips and was an huge help as we planned our trip. Overall a great stay! We will be back!
