Absolutely a great comedy spot! Bob was our host on Tuesday night it was our first time to throw tomatoes. It was a blast. Every comedian we saw was very funny. We will be back often!
Stage was great, the performer was awesome. The food from Gino’s was delicious, too. Would’ve been better if there was more information about what to do once we got there, we were a bit confused and walked around before we ended up just standing around inside before getting ushered to seating.
You can often find free tickets on Eventbrite for Tuesday, Wednesdays, and other shows. The Tomato throwing shows are obviously the best. Other than that it's okay comedy,okay, food, decent drinks. Typical 2 drink minimum. I've never gotten the Pizza because it has a longer wait than the tenders and most other food items although I imagine it's good.
Nice little Club. Too many stairs to get up to the club, but that’s how you weed out the riffraff. The opening guy/host Bob was a little more horrible than I was expecting. Very cringe worthy almost wanted to get up and leave. He was that bad, but the club gradually recovered. The second dude scaffolded by his horrible opener performed much better but I would still rate him one star out of 10. The third dude was a breath of fresh air seemed very comfortable on stage. Had a nice schtick about him working the room not hilarious but I’d give him a good six out of 10. Then Ryan O’Flanagan came on and I’m still not sure if he was really drunk or just playing it up but he told some pretty hilarious stories. I wanted him to go on for another hour after the show ended. He was so funny. I feel like you could go and see this guy play night after night and he would have a new refreshing show every time, kind of like that really hilarious friend that everybody has, standing up there riffing, no jokes, just telling funny stories. It was awesome.
The Tuesday night show at the The Comedy Bar is definitely a unique and interactive experience. They bring out a lineup of comedians, and part of the show includes the audience being able to throw tomatoes at performers who aren’t at a certain level yet. It makes the night feel more like a live game than a traditional comedy show. The concept is fun and keeps the crowd engaged. It’s entertaining to see different comedians try out their material, and the audience interaction adds a layer you don’t usually get at most comedy clubs. That said, because it’s a mix of comedians with different experience levels, the quality of the jokes can be pretty hit or miss. Some acts were really funny, while others struggled to land the punchlines. Overall, it’s a lively Tuesday night option in Chicago if you’re looking for something different and don’t mind a bit of unpredictability. Fun idea, fun crowd, just a mixed bag when it comes to the comedy. Food and drinks offered. Must purchase minimum of 2 items. Parking nearby.
