We recently hosted my daughter Elizabeth's bridal shower at The Godfrey Hotel Chicago, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience. From the very beginning, Ashley Kelly, Assistant Food & Beverage Director & Event Coordinator, provided exceptional customer service. I worked with Ashley for several months leading up to the shower, and throughout the entire planning process she was professional, responsive, organized, and incredibly detail-oriented. When we arrived on the day of the event, the rooftop space looked absolutely beautiful. I had brought flowers and decorations, but Ashley went above and beyond by adding flower vases to each table, creating an elegant and polished look that perfectly complemented our theme. The weather was challenging, but Ashley handled everything flawlessly. It was extremely hot, and she thoughtfully offered fans for our guests, which helped keep everyone comfortable. Midway through the shower, it began to rain. Ashley immediately sprang into action, providing umbrellas and quickly arranging an indoor space under the retractable roof. The transition was seamless, and because of her quick thinking and calm leadership, the celebration continued without missing a beat. We ended the event inside, and it was just as beautiful and enjoyable as the rooftop setting. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The drinks were wonderful, and the two servers assigned to our event were attentive, professional, and genuinely kind. Every member of the staff made us feel welcomed and cared for. One moment that particularly touched me was when the cake was brought out with sparklers. Ashley had taken one of the table runners I brought for the event and thoughtfully placed it on the cake table so it coordinated perfectly with our décor. It was such a small but meaningful detail. My daughter's face said it all—she was overjoyed. Ashley and the entire Godfrey team created a bridal shower that exceeded every expectation. Their attention to detail, professionalism, flexibility, and genuine care made the day incredibly special for our family. We will remember this celebration forever. We stopped her for drinks after dinner. The view was beautiful. However, the vibe was not. Our server seemed bothered to be at work and was not very helpful with drink recommendations. I order the Frose. It was not good. However, it did make an excellent picture prop!
Overall this rooftop is nice but the service is lacking, slow and inattentive. There’s a mandatory 21% service fee which basically provides very little incentive for the server to really do anything for us. The tuna tartare was really good and the tuna maki. The chicken flatbread was pretty much frozen pizza reheated, and the veggie bowl fell short. The drinks were honestly so average, expected so much but not impressed.
We were taken to the Godfrey for their rooftop happy hour. I really wanted to enjoy some of the Chicago scenery and this is definitely the place to make that happen. They're happy hour prices were really great and they had a variety of drinks that you could choose from. The menu was light and fresh but the views were amazing! They also had a DJ that was playing Modern upbeat sounds that kept the vibe real lively. We didn't order much other than the drinks and enjoy the view and the atmosphere definitely recommend for a cool vibe with friends.
I had an amazing time at the I|O Godfrey Rooftop Lounge — easily one of the best rooftop experiences in Chicago. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere hits you. It’s stylish, energetic, and perfectly designed for both daytime lounging and evening drinks. The indoor/outdoor setup with the retractable roof makes it a great spot year-round, and the skyline views are absolutely stunning — a perfect backdrop whether you’re there for cocktails or a full night out . The service was fantastic — attentive, friendly, and on point throughout. Drinks were creative and well-balanced, and the whole vibe felt elevated without being pretentious. It’s one of those places where everything just clicks: music, crowd, ambiance. What really makes this place stand out is how versatile it is — you can come for a relaxed afternoon, a sunset drink, or a lively night out, and it delivers every time. A true 5-star experience. If you’re in Chicago, this is an absolute must-visit rooftop.
