Love this spot! They were super accommodating for a last minute happy hour with a big group. Good bar food and delicious drinks. This is a great place to talk with people as it's not too loud.
After a long film production day, we decided to stop by the Tavern for some food and drinks. The pizza hit the spot!
Just left the bar and leaving a fresh review. Great ambiance. Terrible service. Over priced drinks. To be fair, the price points only match the drinks and glassware. Old fashioned was served in a nice crystal glass. Large format ice cube. That’s about it. Don’t expect to be acknowledged.
I had a very lovely hour or so at the bar during a neighborhood bar crawl on a recent Wednesday night. It wasn't packed but there were plenty of people enjoying food and drink. This place has a more modern/ updated feel than some of the other neighborhood places while still keeping some of the charm of being in old Chicago. The two bartenders were nice to chat with and made sure I didn't leave my time in Chicago without trying a shot of Malort (not as bad as the internet makes it sound). I had the best fried cauliflower buds I've ever had, wish I could have tried more of their food based on that dish. If you're looking for a classic American bar in the the south loop with a bigger than most beer selection, this is probably the right stop for you.
